Geography

At Marsh Lane Primary our Geography curriculum is underpinned by the objectives set out in the National Curriculum of:

Locational Knowledge

Place Knowledge

Human and Physical Geography

Geographical Skills and Fieldwork

Geography is taught through an exciting thematic approach enhanced by fieldwork in our school and on residential trips for KS2, orienteering, trips and outdoor learning.

Geography is delivered through discrete units taught termly throughout the school. These units are taught in rotation with other humanities subjects. Where appropriate, cross-curricular links are made with other subjects. Opportunities are also built in our curriculum planning, to apply geography into e to  writing tasks.

As the children move through the school, they follow the age-related expectations set out in the National Curriculum document. Please see our curriculum knowledge and key-skills progression map for further detail.
