Our School Day

Our school day is organised to provide maximum time for learning across a broad and balanced curriculum.

Following the pandemic we still strive to facilitate good social distancing between year groups where possible. The children come straight into school, after washing their hands, and begin learning in their classrooms.

Each day has an assembly where children learn about the value of the week, discover current events and festivals, celebrate and share their learning. This may take place in the school hall or in the classroom.

Play time and lunchtime staff are trained to support children’s play.  There are a wide range of activities for children to enjoy, such as skipping, reading, drawing, sports and tennis.

During lesson time, some subjects such as Maths and English and Science are taught separately. Other subjects (Geography, History, Art, Design Technology and Computing) are taught during creative curriculum thematic sessions.

Since the pandemic, we have reflected on the way in which we have done things in the past. We spoke to the staff and children and we really liked coming to the classroom straight away in the morning, instead of lining up on the playground. We also liked having more space during the morning break and our separate break key stage play times. We also liked wearing our P.E. kits on the day we have P.E. as we have more time to spend doing P.E and our kits get washed more regularly and don't get left in the cloakroom!

There will be a member of staff on duty each morning to meet and greet and close gates.

School starts at 8.50am - Parents/Guardians can take the children to their classroom entrance points for this time, where children will go straight to their classroom.
